Omnisphere versus Komplete 8 – Cockos Incorporated Forums
Spectrasonics Omnisphere 2. The secret of its huge and powerful sound comes from the layering and mixing of sounds within the engine. Each patch can have 4 layers of sound made from over DSP waveforms, filtered by 34 types, modulated by 8 LFOs and 12 envelopes. You can import your own audio and then have it pulled apart into individual grains and modulated to within an inch of its life.

What’s particularly great about Omnisphere is that not only does it have thousands and thousands of patches, but each of them has a detailed description about the sound sources, how they were created, and suggestions for modifying them and using them in performance.
I’d really consider Omnisphere to be a “desert island” product and one of the best possible uses of your VST money despite the steep price. The other thing I should mention is customer support. If you have a question, no matter what it is, email it to Spectrasonics and you get a detailed answer the next day.
Native Instruments customer support is basically nonexistent in my experience, and it doesn’t take much reading of the message boards to find tons of people with similar experience. W74 Awesome reply – thanks so much Makes very very good sense.
I suppose it’s one of those sh! I’ve listened to a lot of sound samples, and I’ve viewed almost all the videos pertaining to both of these bundles. Damn, they may be different vehicles on the same highway, so to speak, but they sure rival each other immensely.
Alright – bottom line and last question. I ask this because really, this is where it’ll be used a lot – and it’l grow with me to offer bigger better soundscapes and musical backdrops, guaranteed – but I need basic sounds as a litmus test.
I’ve listened to a lot of stuff – I have to say one thing – Omni sounds “better” overall please don’t flame me for this. But it just has this rich aural depth to it. Maybe it’s the level of skill for the samples I’m hearing, but this is what I’m getting. I don’t need drums, I don’t need guitars – I need bass, and textures and cool, cool stuff without falling onto the “techno” side of music.
Peace – keep ’em coming guys, this has been awesome. And as for that review – killer!!

Omisphere vs. NI Komplete # 10/20/18 PM Is Omnisphere the out-of-this-world synth everyone says it is? Is it better than what is available in. Hey guys, I want a great multi-purpose soft synth in the price range of Omnisphere or Komplete. I make pop/rock music, no EDM. So I need. Does anyone else here own omnisphere 2? I just recently purchased and installed it and I honestly must be missing something. The sounds.
Komplete 9 vs Omnisphere… which one would you choose?
Oscillators Omnisphere 2 comes with over new waveforms each of which is a morphing wavetable. Ethnic instruments and unusual sound sources like a burning piano are also included and can be used as oscillators. Additionally, you can add your own sounds and use those as oscillators or mangle them in the granular synthesis section. However, when compared to other dedicated granular synths like Mangle or PadShop, Omnisphere 2 falls a bit short in terms of editing features.
